I bought three of these six years ago and two are still working fine. The third one has started to switch off after about an hour of being turned on. Since I have never opened and cleaned it, that could be the reason but in any case, I am going to buy a new one anyway.
About people’s fear of ozone, it is totally unfounded. I am a research scientist and I tested the very first prototype of such a machine in Switzerland in collaboration with its inventor. It was a beautifully built unit targeting the private home market after being used in laboratories and in hospitals. It made the inside of my home smell as fresh as the mountain air outside. I also slept better at night.
I keep them on “low” all the time with the occasional boost of “high” if I cook with onion or garlic – or if I burn the toast.
Now some 25 years later, I still surprise Realtors and visitors who come to my home and find it shared with two cats and a dog that they can see but not smell.
I strongly recommend this technology and these particular units for their affordability and their reliability.
I would have a problem living without such units.

compared to a Honeywell Enviracaire® QuietCare 1700 HEPA Air Cleaner it is cheaper (initial price and to maintain), dramatically less noisy, and much more effective. regardless of what some people say about particles get ionized and stick to the room surfaces, which they claim to be a scientific reasoning (i doubt that), even though I bought the Honeywell, which i regret, I noticed after mine broke by a couple of days that my clothes started to smell like cigarettes (I smoke in my room when I’m studying).
It lasted I think over 3 years with several drops from 6′ then the fan broke. so i replaced the fan (same as OEM CPU fans for old AMD sockets, which is about two dollars). however, it stopped working completely after another year; so, i opened it again to find the board cocked.
Bottom line: 24/7/4 years service for about fifty bucks = money well spent compared to other brands and HEPA stuff.
PS: the honeywell blows most of the dust back in the air. I have to clean the wall by hand often which the honeywell is close to. pifff… HEPA filters, lol.
