The smell is quite irritating and I'm hoping it will dissipate, in time (hopefully SOON!), but it's AWSOME to sleep on! It's firm, but fluffy at the same time. You don't sink into it like you would with memory foam, but it does conform to the body's curves and gives equal support to every part of the body. It's easy to move around on (unlike memory foam which is like moving in sand!). I am very happy with it! My mattress is too firm. I bought this 3" latex foam mattress topper, topped off with a two year old 2" viscoelastic mattress topper. I thought the 2" viscoelastic topper did not provide enough cushion for my achy back. Now, I can sleep great. I did not notice any odors at all. I did not need a cover for the mattress topper.
